Pharmacognostical studies on the bark of Cassia fistula Linn.
Abstract:
The present communication deals with the macroscopical, microscopical & preliminary phytochemical studies on the bark of Cassia fistula Linn. Cassia fistula Linn is widely used in traditional medicine in many parts of India for the treatment of various diseases & ailments viz. hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antidiabetic etc. No reports are available on the pharmacognostic nature of the bark, hence, the present study was undertaken to investigate the same. All the parameters were studied according to the WHO & Pharmacopoeial guidelines. The qualitative chemical tests of the ethanolic extract revealed the presence of tannins, flavonoids, steroids, glycosides & carbohydrates.Articles in PDF, ePUB and Full text are attached to this page.
